Selbyville Police Department provides a competitive compensation package that includes:

  • Salary: 
    • Non-certified: $66,142
    • Certified applicants: rank and pay is dependent upon years of service. 
    • Corporal salary with 10 years of service is $80,550.77.
    • 5% annual pay raise (1% step, 4% COLA) per contract
  • Healthcare: 100% Employee covered State Health Plan, 75% Dependent care coverage 
  • Leave Benefits: Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
  • Take-Home Vehicle: Officers may benefit from the take-home vehicle program.
  • Overtime Opportunities: Additional earnings through overtime work. 
  • Night shift differential
  • Chance for rapid advancement due to rapidly growing town
  • Shift Schedule: 12 hour shifts with every other weekend off. Two weeks of day shifts from 6am-6pm, followed by two weeks of night shift 6pm-6am.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications for Selbyville Police Department Candidates

Prospective applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship: All candidates must be U.S. citizens.
  • Age: Applicants must be 21 years old by the time they complete the academy.
  • Examinations: A physical fitness test and a written exam must be successfully passed.
  • Background Check: A comprehensive background investigation is required.
  • Medical and Psychological Assessments: Candidates must pass medical and psychological evaluations to ensure they are fit for duty.
