Now Hiring Seasonal and Full-Time Police Officers
The Rehoboth Beach Police Department is currently hiring certified and non-certified candidates for full-time police officers positions, as well as, candidates for seasonal police officer positions for the summer of 2026!
Rehoboth Beach officers protect life and property, prevent and investigate crimes, respond to calls for service and traffic crashes, and preserve peace and order by constantly patrolling city streets in marked and unmarked cars, by bicycle, and on foot.

Full-Time Police Officers benefits include:
- starting salary of $78,809 ($37.89/hour) while in the police academy.
- starting salary may be increased up to $85,216 depending on years of COPT-certified experience. Depending on experience, candidates may be hired at the rank of Patrolman First Class.
- participation in the County & Municipal Police Pension Plan, under which an officer is eligible for retirement upon completion of 20 years of credited service

Seasonal Police Officers benefits include:

Essential Qualifications for Rehoboth Beach Police Department Candidates
Prospective applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship: All candidates must be U.S. citizens.
- Age: Applicants must be 21 years old by the time they complete the academy.
- Examinations: A physical fitness test and a written exam must be successfully passed.
- Background Check: A comprehensive background investigation is required.
- Medical and Psychological Assessments: Candidates must pass medical and psychological evaluations to ensure they are fit for duty.
