The primary responsibility of the Delaware State University Police Department is to provide a safe environment for our students, faculty, staff and all who work and visit our University; and we solicit your support and active participation in our safety and security efforts. Police Department personnel work closely with federal, state, and local enforcement agencies to gather intelligence and resources utilized in proactive police at DSU.

Qualifications
Essential Qualifications for DSUPD
Prospective applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship: All candidates must be U.S. citizens.
- Age: Applicants must be 21 years old by the time they complete the academy.
- Examinations: A physical fitness test and a written exam must be successfully passed.
- Background Check: A comprehensive background investigation is required.
- Medical and Psychological Assessments: Candidates must pass a medical (which includes a drug screen) and psychological evaluation to ensure they are fit for duty.
- Education:
- Requires a minimum of an Associate’s degree or 60 credit hours that must be obtained within two years of employment. Some college work in criminal justice, political science or the social sciences preferred
- Or minimum of 30 college credits plus two (2) years Delaware POST Certified Officer.
