NCCPD provides a competitive compensation package that includes:

  • Salary: $72,637 upon completing the academy. (First 3 years)
  • Hiring Bonus: $15,000 or $25,000. 15,00 for entry level. 25,000 for certified applicants
  • Healthcare: Comprehensive medical and dental insurance coverage.
  • Leave Benefits: Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays, paid parental leave (12 weeks)
  • Take-Home Vehicle: Officers may benefit from the take-home vehicle policy.
  • Overtime Opportunities: Additional earnings through overtime work, extra duty jobs, holiday pay
  • Shift Schedule: 11.25-hour shifts with 4 days on and 4 days off.
  • Retirement Plan: 20 year pension plan

Essential Qualifications for New Castle County Police Department Candidates

Prospective applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship: All candidates must be U.S. citizens.
  • Age: Applicants must be 21 years old by the time they complete the academy.
  • Examinations: A physical fitness test and a written exam must be successfully passed.
